What's New @ the Hughes Undergraduate Biology Program

MSU student, Angie Mitchell, recently went to Ecuador with Dr. Gary Strobel of MSU, Dr.Scott Strobel of Yale University and 17 other undergraduates from Yale University. There they collected and analyzed rainforest plants that have beneficial microbes. A portion of Mitchell's trip was supported with funds from the Hughes Undergraduate Biology Program. Two University of Washington, Bettye Apenteng (pictured at left) and TramAnh Phan (not pictured) came to MSU on April 15, 2008 to present their research at the Student Research Celebration. Bettye's poster was titled "An Extrinsic Cue Regulates Neuronal Temporal Identity in Drosophila" and TramAnh's poster was titled, "Investigating the Ubiquitin Lysine Linkage Specificity of the Breast Cancer Protein, BRCA1".
